Who Is On My Wifi version 2.1.2

Version 2.1.2 of Who Is On My Wifi was released this afternoon.

This was mainly just bug fixes that we wanted to get out before we stop releases for the holiday.

This will be our last software update until after the New Year.  If there is a major bug that absolutely can’t wait, let us know, and we’ll help you out.  But otherwise, our next update won’t be until either January 3rd or January 10th.

Bug Fixes:

Device Report bug fix

We heard some issues about the Device Report that went out in 2.1.1.  One of the main problems was that under certain conditions the Device Report would open, but it would be behind the main Who’s On My Wifi program, so people were thinking that it wasn’t actually loading.  We changed this so that it always open on top of the program.

Blocking Hardware Initialization Bug Fix

For our registered users, to enable blocking to work, WinPcap needs to be installed on the computer running Who’s On My Wifi.  We received some e-mails about people receiving an error message that WinPcap did not Initialize Correctly, Blocking will be disabled.  This was usually happening because on occasion, after installing WinPcap, the computer really needs to be restarted for the WinPcap Hardware Drivers to initialize correctly.  So, we changed the message explaining this, hopefully causing less frustration for our newer customers.

Chrome Download Installer Fix

When we released the Device Report in 2.1.1, we had to include the Microsoft Report Viewer program in our installer.  We’re not 100% sure, but our guess was that how we were including this in our installer was causing problems when people were downloading our software through Chrome.  So, we changed how the installer works a little bit to make it more acceptable to Chrome.  We didn’t include this in our notes because no one should notice anything different when installing the software, but thought we would add it here.
